Dick and Company...I appreciate the kind words and being able to listen to the Dorman Basketball games over the internet. Being in New Orleans, LA supporting the Katrina Relief effort, makes it easier to bear being away from home when I can keep up with local action. Keep up the good work! Thanks for what you are doing!!!

I thoroughly enjoy the local sports talk scene. You guys do a great job!
Smitty asked me about Coach Cox as a Coach, and I was ill prepared to answer at the time, but I wanted to elaborate a bit. I was his 1st boy's basketball team point guard (Dawkins) in 1986-87. Coach taught us the importance of playing intense physical defense. He was passionate and intense about the game, yet he always poured confidence into his players. He taught us to play the game the right way. I remember we would pray to God that we would be "Humble in victory and Gracious in defeat." We won the Regular Season Championship that year, and I will never forget him for creating a reward for me at our end of season banquet....every one of the other starters on the team were chosen as All-Conference (Peachtree), but I had been left out. Coach recognized my contribution to the team and he gave me a Coach's "Captain Award". I must say that meant an awful lot to me as an 8th grader at the time.
But the real reason I wanted to write is because of what Coach taught me off the court (especially around Christmas). Coach Cox introduced me to FCA, and, at this time of year, we would have a banquet for underpriviledged kids. He would orchestrate the entire thing from start to finish. He identified these kids in the community, and helped us buy these kids gifts, pick them up at their house and take them to our Christmas banquet. There we would have dinner, sing carols, play with the kids (and their gifts) and have a visit from Santa. I have to say that those experiences impacted me greatly in learning what Christmas really means....it is about giving..... of yourself, your time and your resources, because Christ gave the ultimate gift for us. He truly is the "Reason for the Season."
Anyway, I just wanted to see a good man who affected this life get his due......
